On December 20, 2018, EcoContact in partnership with the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, organized the national workshop where have been approached several themes, such as:
- Evaluate training needs in volunteer management within GIES
- Define the key objectives of the Volunteer Leaders Training Program, its framework and the development process with key stakeholder involvement
Taking into account the above objectives, EcoContact invited the persons responsible for implementing the training program (trainings), implementation of the legal framework (requirement under the new governmental decision) as well as other GIES representatives in charge of this field.
It is important to note that emergency volunteering represents a new concept for the Republic of Moldova, as well as spontaneous volunteering and the work to be done is enormous, starting with the elaboration of a legislative basis and finishing with guidance documents on the functioning of this mechanism. At the meeting, EcoContact’s civil protection expert identified the GIES needs, which consisted of developing a complete Programe Course on Volunteer Management, including the bibliographic / thematic resources for this curriculum. Further, with the support of foreign experts, EcoContact will develop a study program to train volunteer leaders, and then test it to identify other needs.
