Safety measures and intervention in exceptional situations for the protection of the population in five districts of the Republic of Moldova realized with the support of the ProVoice project

Safety is the key element for a community that aspires to constant and sustainable development. Moreover, the safety of the population is very important, especially when exceptional situations are triggered, which cannot be stopped, but can be managed – as far as possible – and sometimes even prevented, if adequate prior training is in place.

Therefore, during the last (2) years, AO EcoContact, in partnership with the Local Public Authorities from the districts of Strășeni, Călărași, Edineț Ocnița and Ștefan Vodă, have taken a series of enhanced measures to ensure the protection and security of the population in seven villages of the country. .

Thus, the firefighter volunteer posts from Cojușna, Sipoteni, Lozova, Terebna, Hădărăuți, Fetești and Copceac villages have benefited from technical support in opening and equipping with the necessary equipment and performing instruments, who will provide the primary suport for exceptional interventions. until the arrival of professional firefighters.

At the same time, in order to intervene with the necessary efficiency, the staff and volunteers from the respective units, received training and methodical and practical assistance from the specialists from the General Inspectorate of Exceptional Situations (GIES).

Also, a special focus was put on informing the population through awareness actions regarding the prevention of disasters caused by fires, the most vulnerable group being children. To this end, two educational institutions, namely the Gymnasium in the village of Hădărăuți (Ocnita rayon) and the theoretical high school in Fetești village (Edineț rayon) were equipped with 20 smoke detectors, which will “guard” the safety of the pupils at hours and will contribute promptly to the prevention of unwanted situations.

We remind that both, actions of inaugurating firefighter volunteer posts and their equipping (in the amount of about 10,000 euros), training the personnel and volunteers, as well as installing the smoke detectors in two institutions. education took place within the project “ProVoice: Promoting the role of volunteers and the population in civil protection”, realized by AO EcoContact, in collaboration with local authorities and GIES with the financial support of the European Union and the Austrian Agency for Development.

The aim of the project was to contribute to strengthening the cooperation between the neighboring countries on the management of volunteers, spontaneous volunteering and raising awareness regarding disaster preparedness.

Beneficiary countries: Belarus, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
